Effective date: May 19, 2026
This Privacy Policy describes how PromptShot (“PromptShot,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, stores, and discloses personal information when you visit https://promptshot.cc, use the PromptShot macOS application, or otherwise communicate with us (collectively, the “Services”).
For purposes of this Privacy Policy, “you” and “your” means you as a user of the Services, whether you are a website visitor, customer, account holder, or another individual whose information we process.
Please read this Privacy Policy carefully. By using or accessing the Services, you acknowledge that your information will be handled as described in this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree with this Privacy Policy, please do not use or access the Services.
1. Overview
PromptShot is a macOS application that helps you work with text, prompts, and speech using AI-powered features.
We designed PromptShot to minimize the amount of information we collect and store. In general, the content you process through the app is used to provide the feature you requested and is not stored by PromptShot as part of normal product functionality.
We may store limited account, device, subscription, and usage-related information where necessary to operate the Services, maintain security, provide support, improve reliability, and comply with our legal obligations.
Some features may involve third-party AI providers or other service providers. When you choose to use those features, your information may be processed by those providers according to their own terms and privacy practices.
2. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time, including to reflect changes to our practices, product functionality, third-party services, or for operational, legal, or regulatory reasons.
If we make material changes, we will update the “Last updated” date above and may provide additional notice where required by law. Your continued use of the Services after an updated Privacy Policy becomes effective means you acknowledge the revised Privacy Policy.
3. What Personal Information We Collect
When we use the term “personal information,” we mean information that identifies, relates to, describes, or can reasonably be associated with you.
The information we collect depends on how you interact with the Services.
3.1 Information We Collect Directly from You
Information that you directly submit to us through the Services may include:
Contact information, such as your email address and any information you choose to provide when contacting us.
Account information, such as authentication status, account profile metadata, account settings, and related account records.
Customer support information, including the content of messages, requests, feedback, or bug reports you choose to send us.
Payment or subscription information, if paid features are introduced or enabled, such as billing status, subscription status, payment confirmations, and related transaction metadata. Payment details may be processed by third-party payment processors and not stored directly by us.
Some features of the Services may require you to provide certain information. You may choose not to provide this information, but doing so may prevent you from using or accessing those features.
3.2 Information Stored Locally on Your Device
Certain information may be stored locally on your device to operate the app and remember your preferences. This may include authentication-related information, provider configuration information, app settings and preferences, local prompt templates or similar user-configured settings, and other local data needed to provide app functionality.
Where supported by the operating system, sensitive local information is stored using system security mechanisms.
We do not intentionally store your third-party AI provider credentials in our cloud database.
3.3 Information Processed to Provide App Functionality
To provide the Services, the app may process content you select, enter, dictate, generate, or otherwise use with the app. This may include text, prompts, audio, transcriptions, AI responses, or similar content (“User Content”).
User Content is processed to provide the feature you requested, such as transforming text, generating an AI response, or transcribing speech. In the current version of the Services, we do not store User Content on PromptShot servers as part of normal prompt execution or dictation functionality.
Some User Content may be sent to third-party AI providers or other service providers you configure or use through the Services. Their processing of that information is governed by their own terms, policies, and settings.
3.4 Information We Collect Automatically
We may automatically collect certain information about your interaction with the Services (“Usage Data”). Usage Data may include basic information about how the Services are accessed and used; technical information about the app, website, device, operating system, or browser; general performance, reliability, and diagnostic information; approximate interaction information, such as pages viewed or features used; and account or device-related metadata used for security, abuse prevention, support, and product operations.
Usage Data is intended to help us operate, secure, troubleshoot, and improve the Services. We do not use Usage Data to reconstruct the content you process through the app.
We may use cookies, pixels, and similar technologies (“Cookies”) on our website to operate the site, remember preferences, understand usage, and improve performance.
3.5 Information We Obtain from Third Parties
We may obtain information about you from third parties, including vendors and service providers who help us operate, provide, and improve the Services. These may include:
Hosting, infrastructure, database, and cloud service providers.
Authentication providers.
Analytics providers.
Payment processors, if payments or subscriptions are enabled.
Customer support and communication tools.
AI providers you configure or interact with through the Services.
Any information we obtain from third parties will be handled in accordance with this Privacy Policy. We are not responsible for the accuracy of information provided by third parties or for any third party’s privacy practices.
4. How AI Features Work
PromptShot uses AI-powered features to help you transform text, work with prompts, and transcribe speech. These features may involve third-party AI providers that you configure or otherwise use through the Services.
When you use AI-powered features, the relevant content may be sent to the applicable provider in order to return the result you requested. PromptShot does not use this content to build user profiles, sell advertising, or create separate content databases.
In the current version of the Services, PromptShot does not store the text, audio, transcription, or AI output generated through normal prompt execution or dictation functionality on PromptShot servers.
Your use of third-party AI providers is also subject to their own terms, privacy policies, data usage practices, and account settings.
5. Analytics and Technical Metadata
We may collect limited analytics and technical metadata to understand how the Services are used, improve product quality, debug issues, prevent abuse, and maintain reliability.
This information may include general usage, performance, diagnostic, and device-related information. It is designed to help us understand whether the Services are working properly, not to reveal the content you process through the app.
Analytics and technical metadata do not include the actual text, audio, transcriptions, AI responses, provider credentials, or file contents you process through normal app functionality.
Where analytics or technical metadata is associated with your account or device, we use reasonable safeguards designed to protect that information.
6. How We Use Your Personal Information
We may use personal information for the following purposes:

We may use personal information to comply with applicable laws, regulations, legal processes, enforceable governmental requests, or to enforce our agreements and protect our rights.
7. Cookies
Like many websites and online services, we may use Cookies and similar technologies on our website to power and improve the Services, remember actions and preferences, run analytics, understand user interaction, and improve performance.
Most browsers automatically accept Cookies by default, but you can choose to remove or reject Cookies through your browser settings. Removing or blocking Cookies may negatively affect your user experience and may cause some website features to work incorrectly or become unavailable.
The PromptShot macOS app may also store local preferences on your device, such as provider, model, shortcut, and voice settings. These local preferences are not synced to our cloud in the current version of the Services.
8. How We Disclose Personal Information
We may disclose personal information to third parties for legitimate purposes, including:
Vendors and service providers who help us operate, host, secure, support, analyze, improve, or provide the Services.

Authorities or other parties where required by law, to comply with applicable legal obligations, respond to lawful requests, enforce our terms, and protect or defend the Services, our rights, and the rights of users or others.
We do not sell your User Content. We do not use or disclose sensitive personal information for the purpose of inferring characteristics about you.
9. Third-Party Services
The Services may rely on third-party providers for functionality such as hosting, authentication, analytics, payments, communications, customer support, AI processing, transcription, security, or other operational needs.
Your use of third-party services may be governed by their own terms, privacy policies, data usage policies, and account settings. We are not responsible for the privacy, security, accuracy, reliability, or practices of third-party services that we do not control.
10. User Content
The Services may allow you to select, submit, transform, dictate, transcribe, generate, or otherwise process text, prompts, audio, files, or other content (“User Content”).
You are responsible for the User Content you process through the Services. You should not use the Services to process content that you do not have the right to use or submit.
In the current version of the Services, PromptShot does not store User Content on PromptShot servers as part of normal prompt execution or dictation functionality.
We do not recommend processing sensitive, confidential, regulated, or highly personal information through AI-powered tools unless you understand and accept the relevant third-party provider’s privacy and data usage practices.
